He is known as an important advocate for cryptography and privacy. Sassaman passed away in 2011, and his death coincided with a significant mourning period in the cypherpunk community. Many associate Sassaman's ideas with the work of Satoshi Nakamoto, but the true identity of Satoshi remains uncertain.
