When prices surge, they resent themselves for not having firmly increased their positions a few days ago, thinking 'what's there to be afraid of?';
But when the drop actually comes, they resent themselves even more for being foolish a few days prior, believing they should have taken profits at the high and resolved to sell when they return to that position.
Human nature is inherently greedy, always wanting to seize every opportunity and make the last penny. It's easy to conquer thieves in the mountains, but hard to conquer the thieves in one's heart.
