PANews July 10 news, according to Cointelegraph, cryptocurrency ATM operator Bitcoin Depot disclosed a data breach that occurred on June 23, 2024, which led to the leakage of personal information of 26,732 customers, including names, phone numbers, driver's license numbers, and other sensitive information. The company stated that an investigation by a cybersecurity firm confirmed that it was caused by unauthorized access by a third party, but emphasized that "no evidence of customer information being misused was found."
The company explained that the delay in notification was due to cooperation with federal law enforcement investigation requests, and it was not until June 13, 2025, that they were permitted to initiate the notification process. Currently, Bitcoin Depot has strengthened security monitoring measures and advised affected users to set up credit fraud alerts. This is another significant data breach incident following the one involving Byte Federal in December 2024, related to cryptocurrency ATM operators.
