CoinWorld news, the Story Network and digital identity project World have partnered to introduce the World ID digital identity solution into Story's IP-centric Layer 1. This collaboration aims to address the issue of intellectual property infringement by AI-generated content, particularly in terms of deceptive identities and false ownership claims. According to a release shared with The Block, by integrating World ID into the Story network, users will be able to verify the IP in their wallets and set terms for how others can use and pay for their intellectual property. Story President Andrea Muttoni told The Block that the partnership between Story and World will take effect in the fall of 2025. Muttoni said in an email: "Proving humanity and intellectual property is intrinsically linked— as AI becomes more powerful and complex, having a way to distinguish human-created IP will become increasingly important." "As the first step in introducing World ID to Story, we are bringing verified human author identities on-chain—allowing creators to prove that their work is theirs, license it on their terms, and establish more online trust in the creation process." World’s biometric data (collected via iris scanners) can verify whether an online entity is human or a robot. The Block previously reported that the Tools for Humanity team building World launched World ID in March 2023, with a broader goal of maintaining the health of the internet in the age of AI. However, due to concerns about user privacy protection, Portugal, Brazil, Spain, France, and other countries around the world have banned or suspended World from scanning people's eyes. Tools for Humanity World ID head Ajay Patel said: "World and Story are providing human creators with a new tool to prove authorship and enhance trust, define how their work is used, and be compensated on their terms." "We are helping to build a future where creative control and opportunities are in the hands of those who create the works." The Story Protocol mainnet and its native token IP launched in February this year. The Block previously reported that in August 2024, a16z crypto led an $80 million Series B funding round for Programmable IP Labs (the team building Story Protocol).
