Co-founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin and developer Toni Varstetter proposed to introduce a gas limit for a single transaction at the level of 16.77 million.
Their published improvement EIP-7983 aims to enhance the security of Ethereum and resilience against DoS attacks. This mechanism will also simplify the calculation of the cost of on-chain operations.
If the gas limit of a transaction exceeds 16.77 million, it will not be included in a block and will be rejected at the formation stage.
"This value allows for the execution of most current tasks, including the deployment of smart contracts and complex operations in DeFi, while ensuring stable network operation," the description states.
The current gas limit is set for an entire block and is at the level of 36 million.
