BITCOIN

  • Bitcoin trades above $108K as over 93% of holders remain in profit despite recent corrections and slowed upward momentum.

  • BTC market dominance rises to 64%, showing stronger performance against altcoins as investors shift to perceived safer assets.

  • Net BTC demand drops by 895,000 coins, offsetting institutional buying and keeping prices locked in a sideways trading pattern.

Bitcoin continues to trade steadily above $108,000 despite a recent market correction that affected broader cryptocurrency sentiment. Current data shows that more than 93 percent of Bitcoin holders remain in profit, according to IntoTheBlock, signaling resilient support among long-term investors.

The dominance of Bitcoin in the crypto market has exceeded 64%, according to data from CoinMarketCap. This measure follows the market cap of Bitcoin in comparison to the overall market value of the cryptocurrencies. An increase in dominance usually means closer investor demand towards Bitcoin than altcoins, which have been suffering more substantial losses in the past weeks.

Institutional Buys vs. Falling Demand

Despite continued institutional interest, with firms like Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) adding to their holdings, overall Bitcoin demand has declined. Data from CryptoQuant shows a drop of approximately 895,000 BTC in net demand over the past 30 days. This decline is preventing further upward momentum, keeping the asset in a consolidation range.

The broader market performance has outpaced Bitcoin’s movement. While both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite closed at record highs on Friday, Bitcoin has failed to keep pace. Its 15 percent gain in the first half of 2025 falls short of past bullish cycles. Analysts suggest that fading retail participation may be limiting price growth, with large holders currently driving most of the activity.

Technical indicators show Bitcoin is heading toward a weekly close in the neutral zone. Unless buying pressure returns, trading within the narrow band of $107,000 to $110,000 is expected. Market participants are closely watching this consolidation as it defines short-term momentum going into the second half of the year.
