#TrumpTariffs

The Trump administration initially announced that the new tariffs would take effect on July 9, but the deadline has been pushed to August 1, 2025. Warning letters with information about the rates are to be sent to about 100 countries no later than July 9, and the tariffs themselves may range from 10% to 70% (previous threats from April).

During a press conference in New Jersey, President Trump had trouble explaining the details, which forced Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick to clarify that although the original date of "July 9" was intended as a negotiating pressure tactic, August 1 is now the final activation date for the tariffs.
