@CZ talked about Cunningham's Law states 🤝 Context #DYOR “The best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to ask a question, but to post the wrong answer. “ This is because people are more inclined to correct a mistake than to answer a question that is not asked. Here's a more detailed explanation: The Core Idea: Instead of directly asking for information, you intentionally provide an incorrect answer. This triggers a response from those who know the correct information, who will then offer corrections. Why it Works: People are more motivated to correct misinformation than they are to provide information proactively. This is a natural human tendency, and Cunningham's Law leverages this for information gathering. Origins: The law is attributed to Ward Cunningham, the creator of the wiki concept. It was observed in the early days of Usenet and has since been applied to various online platforms. Example: 🤔 Origin: Named after Ward Cunningham, the creator of the first wiki (which later inspired Wikipedia). Interestingly, he never stated this himself, but the law was attributed to his behavior and contributions. 💡 Why It Works: People on the internet love correcting others. If you say something incorrect, you’re more likely to get quick and accurate corrections than by asking a question politely. 🧠 Example: Instead of asking: 🟢 “What year did Bitcoin launch?” You post: 🔴 “#Bitcoin launched in 2011.” ➡ You’re likely to get multiple replies correcting you: “No, it was 2009!”
