Odaily Planet Daily reported that Swedish Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer has urged the police, tax authorities, and law enforcement agencies to strengthen their efforts in seizing proceeds from crime, particularly cryptocurrency assets. The confiscation legislation that took effect last November allows law enforcement agencies to seize property 'without needing to prove that someone actually committed a crime.' This means that if authorities suspect anyone of illegally obtaining cryptocurrency, and that person 'cannot explain its source,' the police and other agencies will have the authority to seize those assets. Dennis Dioukarev, a member of the Sweden Democrats, supports this seizure action and calls for the confiscated BTC to be transferred to the Swedish central bank to establish a national strategic Bitcoin reserve.
