U.S. President Trump again called for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas on Sunday and for the release of hostages. Meanwhile, the Israeli military issued evacuation orders for several areas in northern Gaza (including most of Jabalia and Gaza City) that day, requesting residents to move to the 'humanitarian safe zone' in Mawasi near southern Khan Younis. The Israeli army stated that it would significantly escalate military operations in these areas with the aim of destroying the capabilities of 'terrorist organizations'.
However, Palestinian and United Nations officials pointed out that there is no truly safe place in Gaza. Following the evacuation order, Reuters reported that the Israeli military intensified bombings of Jabalia early Sunday morning, resulting in at least 6 deaths; a tent camp near Mawasi was also hit by airstrikes, killing 5; and at least 12 others died in Israeli military operations in other areas of Gaza.
With U.S. support, Egypt and Qatar are rekindling ceasefire negotiations.
