Dominican photographer Oveck Reyes has been incorporating his creativity into various artistic mediums, initially music, later expanding to painting and photography.
He grew up in the Dominican Republic and was a rock artist. After moving to New York, he took to the world stage. Later, he became a visual artist (people call him "Oveck" for short), picked up a camera, and began to capture those ordinary but fascinating moments, and gained early success.
But specifically in the NFT space, Oveck's work as a photographer has attracted a large audience, earning him a loyal following of collectors, holders, and fans who eagerly follow his artistic journey.
Looking at his NFT series (“Cuba” - A Place That Stole My Heart), it's easy to understand how Oveck steals the hearts of his fans, just like Cuba stole his heart during his visit. His photos are full of soft and deliberate tones, like intricate paintings, and are easy to immerse yourself in.
Although his works have no text descriptions, his photographic style can convey beautiful stories without words. Oveck focuses on portrait photography and the visual effects of motion blur, giving the photos a vibrant and dreamlike atmosphere, intoxicating all those who appreciate his work.
Oveck's greatest love may be music, but he seems to have given up everything for photography. His unique photographic style is perfectly reflected in each of his non-fungible tokens, which further highlights the irreplaceability of his work. Here are some fun facts about this multi-talented creator.

Before pursuing photography, he was a musician
Oveck's career as a crossover artist began in the Dominican Republic. Inspired by his parents' love of The Beatles, he began to be exposed to music from an early age. In 1996, he moved to the United States and toured major cities with band members. In 2007, Oveck began experimenting with photography while organizing negatives and retouching photos in the studio. His signature style stems from his incorporation of motion blur into artistic portrait creation.
Since then, Oveck has made New York his home and used it as the cornerstone of his career. Over the years, he began to take photographic walks with creative people and local photographers in the city and share his work on Instagram to improve his photography skills.
These walks are not just for photography, but also for spending happy time with friends, creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Ultimately, it was these walking experiences in new cities that made him a Sony Ambassador in 2016 and opened up more international photography trips.
As a Sony Ambassador, Sony provides creatives with the opportunity to travel, use Sony equipment, and meet other creatives who are equally passionate.

He found his way into crypto art in New York
As his photography skills continued to improve, Soho became increasingly fascinated by the intersection of art and technology. This curiosity laid the foundation for his future exploration of digital art and NFTs, eventually finding a new medium to express his creativity.
The bustling streets of New York, full of endless stories and vitality, provide the perfect backdrop for Soho to develop his unique artistic style. He also said in an interview with Allships that creating NFTs as a medium for internet art helped him stand out in New York's crowded art scene.
He said: We all know that for artists living in New York, it is not easy to thrive and show themselves in such a city full of talent, and this new medium makes this exchange possible. Now, there is a wonderful community of artists and collectors here who support each other, which is a very exciting thing - all thanks to NFTs and crypto art.
One of Oveck's biggest non-fungible token projects came from a trip with Sony
Oveck's first international trip with Sony was to Cuba in 2017. Sony partnered with camera store Adorama to send a group of photographers to Cuba to capture its beauty, people, and cuisine.
In the project description, Oveck stated that for him, Cuba is more than just classic cars and delicious food: "[Cuba...] the beautiful decay feels like time has been frozen for over half a century."
A few years after the trip to Cuba, Oveck began posting his Cuban photos and photos from other international trips to the Ethereum blockchain. “Cuba - A Place That Stole My Heart” is an NFT collection containing 30 photographic works. These unique NFTs were issued in August 2021 as Oveck's Genesis NFT collection, which includes photos of Cuba's iconic streets, as well as heart-wrenching portraits of Cubans in their daily lives.
Next, in his "Oveck Landscape" NFT series, Oveck released two mesmerizing single-frame artworks, both the result of his 2019 trip to New Zealand. Each photo has an otherworldly feel with rich details, like a painting, like a mountain view in golden hour, or the starlight in the dawn sky.
In some images, such as (Cuba #04), Oveck prefers to use motion blur, which helps enhance the quality of the image, creating an ethereal and dreamlike feel.

His 2024 NFT project embodies his passion for painting and the popular web3 meme
"PEPESHROOMY" is one of Oveck's recent digital paintings, officially released in June 2024. This NFT work complements the "Pepe the Frog" internet meme that has been popular for decades.
In the Web3 subculture, iterating on the visual of "Pepe the Frog" has become a creative way for artists to give classic works new meaning. Oveck introduced his "Pepe the Frog" on the X platform, saying: "This happy Pepe the Frog is full of positive energy, so please spread the love."

Throughout his career, Oveck has maintained this ability to touch the heartstrings and incorporate joy and whimsy into his work, initially his photography and later his paintings. Each NFT he mints is assigned a unique identifier to ensure clear tracking and management of ownership on the blockchain.
This talent came at the right time, as Oveck began painting in 2020 after suffering from partial blindness and anxiety due to an eye infection. He turned to this new art form to cope with what he was experiencing and quickly fell in love with painting, just as he loved photography. His initial preferred painting styles included oil on canvas, later gradually shifting to digital painting.
High-quality images are at the heart of Oveck's NFT series, capturing the emotional connection and nostalgia contained in the works. Whether capturing cities on photographic walks or depicting inner feelings, Oveck's artistic creations are full of vitality, color, dimension, and a bit of blur, challenging your perspective.
