The body of the Japanese candle:
The body of the Japanese candle is created from the opening price and the closing price. Let's say that in a 5-minute chart, the price of the AAPL stock opens at 150.50 and closes at 151.50. Since the closing price is higher than the opening price, we have a green candle (green body).
The high of the Japanese candle:
The high of the Japanese candle is the highest point that the price reached in that time frame (in this example, I am using 5 minutes). Continuing with the candle above, the maximum price of that candle could have been 151.80. Since the price did not close at its high but retreated to 151.50, we see that black upper wick.
The low of the Japanese candle:
Conversely, the low of the Japanese candle occurs. The low is the lowest point that the price reached in that time frame. Continuing with the candle above, the minimum price of that candle could have been 150. Since the price did not close at its low but rose to 151.50, we see that black lower wick.
