The US Core PCE Price Index for May 2025, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, rose 0.2% month-over-month (MoM), above the expected 0.1%. On a year-over-year (YoY) basis, it increased to 2.7%, compared to estimates of 2.6% and the previous month's 2.5% (revised to 2.6%). The overall PCE Price Index rose 0.1% MoM, as expected, and 2.3% YoY, matching estimates but up from April's 2.1%. These figures indicate a slight uptick in inflation pressures, moving further from the Federal Reserve's 2% target, with consumer spending and personal income showing signs of weakening, declining 0.1% and 0.4% respectively.
