The Japanese investment company #metaplanet has become a sensation in the cryptocurrency world, surpassing the American #Tesla in terms of accumulated Bitcoins. As of June 26, 2025, Metaplanet has acquired 1234 $BTC , increasing its reserves to 12,345 BTC. This exceeds Tesla's holdings of 11,509 BTC, making the Japanese firm the seventh-largest corporate holder of Bitcoin in the world. The purchase, made at an average price of around $107,500, cost $133 million.
This strategy, inspired by the American approach #MicroStrategy , has brought Metaplanet impressive results: its shares have risen by 350% since the beginning of Bitcoin accumulation. The company plans to expand its reserves to 210,000 BTC by 2027, investing up to $5 billion through its American subsidiary. Such ambitious plans are backed by the issuance of stocks and bonds, allowing for the financing of purchases.
Although the decision caused a short-term drop in shares of 5.2%, the long-term strategy demonstrates confidence in Bitcoin as a reserve asset. This highlights the growing interest of institutional investors in cryptocurrencies, especially in Asia, where Metaplanet has become a leader.
