Famous YouTuber MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) faced a wave of criticism after launching an AI tool for creating YouTube thumbnails through his Viewstats platform. The service, which costs $80 a month, allows generating thumbnails using the styles and even faces of other creators without their consent. This caused outrage among YouTubers, particularly JackSepticEye, whose logo was used in the promotion without permission. He sharply criticized the tool, stating: 'I hate what this platform is becoming. Get rid of AI.'

Another YouTuber, PointCrow, accused MrBeast of hypocrisy as he had previously complained about the theft of his thumbnails. After a strong community reaction, MrBeast acknowledged the issue, promising to limit the face replacement feature to only users' own thumbnails. On June 27, 2025, he announced the complete removal of the tool from Viewstats, replacing it with support for real miniature artists. 'I want to support creators, not replace them,' he stated.

The situation raised questions about the ethics of using AI in content creation, copyright, and its impact on artists. The scandal highlighted how important it is to listen to the community and respond to criticism.
