Nigerian Army Engages Armed Bandits in Gunfight, Killing Dozens of Attackers

On June 26, it was reported that on June 25, Colonel Anel, the acting director of public relations for the Nigerian Army, confirmed that on the 24th, a joint operation by the Nigerian Army and Air Force successfully thwarted an armed bandit attempt to invade the Bangi community in the Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State. The Nigerian troops engaged approximately 300 armed bandits in nearly 3 hours of gunfire, resulting in dozens of attackers being killed, while 17 soldiers lost their lives in this battle, and another 10 were injured to varying degrees. The injured have been sent to military medical facilities for treatment, and their conditions are currently stable.
