Upon careful examination, Ethereum truly has no replacement among public chains—it is the first smart contract platform, with top-tier security and decentralization in the industry. But if we take it out and compare it to other public chains, it does not hold an advantage: in terms of security, it cannot compete with Bitcoin; in terms of decentralization, it also loses to Bitcoin; in terms of speed, it cannot match Solana; in terms of gas fees, it is the second most expensive after Bitcoin. However, when these shortcomings are combined, they become its moat—no other public chain can combine security, decentralization, and smart contracts.
Bitcoin is the leader, very stable, just needing security and decentralization, with no need for smart contracts; Solana looks impressive, but sacrificed decentralization for speed, essentially becoming a Web2 system wrapped in a Web3 shell, forever unable to catch up to Ethereum's level of decentralization. Just like today's new energy vehicles, range-extended hybrids are selling well, but everyone knows they are just a transitional product. Solana is similar; it is popular, but look at what innovations it has? Aside from memes, there is nothing—because it lacks innovative capacity. Why are memes so crazy on Solana? Isn’t it because it is fast, cheap, and has a large market capitalization, making it inherently suitable for short-term speculation?
But when it comes to innovation, the engine is still in Ethereum. If Ethereum doesn’t move, other public chains won’t even have a place to copy—just like when Li Ziqi stopped updating for three years, all the imitation accounts in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand also ceased; without a benchmark, how can they imitate? Memes may go viral, but that’s just the market's funds needing a place to splurge.
To put it simply, Ethereum is still the king of smart contracts, and it is inevitable that it will rise to ten thousand dollars in the future. When it returns to its throne... sigh, maybe you will have all exited the vehicle by then!
