Iran Denies Ceasefire Deal as Trump Spreads False Claims

Iran has not agreed to a ceasefire, despite claims made by former U.S. President Donald Trump. In the early hours of Tuesday, Trump took to social media to declare that both sides had “fully agreed” to a ceasefire, set to take effect within 12 hours.

Observers see this as yet another fabrication by Trump, aimed at pressuring the Iranian government into accepting terms. The strategy appears designed to fuel internal dissent by misleading the Iranian public into thinking their leaders have refused peace.

This isn’t the first time Trump has misled the public on Iran. He previously claimed he needed “two weeks” to decide on military action, even as indirect talks continued. In reality, he had already approved a plan for Israel to target Iran’s nuclear, military, and civilian sites.

Mahdi Mohammadi, an advisor to Iran’s parliament speaker, was quick to dismiss Trump’s claim. “The U.S. and Israel are lying. They want Iran to let down its guard so they can escalate tensions,” he wrote on X.

The Iran-Israel conflict erupted on June 13, when Israel launched an unprecedented wave of attacks on Iran’s residential buildings and nuclear facilities—just as Iran was preparing for a sixth round of negotiations with Washington.
