In a digital attack described as one of the largest in Iran's history, reports from blockchain analytics companies indicated that a group of hackers managed to steal more than $90 million from the 'Nobitex' platform, which is the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the country.

According to 'Elliptic,' a company specializing in blockchain data analysis, followed by the 'Al-Sa'a' network, a group called Gonjishki Darandi (the predatory bird) claimed responsibility for the breach and leaked the complete source code of the platform, confirming in a post on Telegram: 'The remaining assets in Nobitex are now fully exposed.'

The company clarified that 'the transferred funds were not used for financial purposes, but were symbolically burned in electronic wallets carrying messages opposing the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, indicating that the goal was more political than financial theft.'

In the same context, the group accused the 'Nobitex' platform of 'collaborating with the Iranian regime to circumvent Western sanctions and fund regional activities, including transferring money to entities like the Houthis in Yemen and Hamas.'

The Washington Post quoted cybersecurity experts as saying that 'the breach involved the transfer of digital currencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin,' emphasizing that 'this type of attack reflects a digital escalation in the Iranian-Israeli conflict, especially after recent mutual strikes between the two sides.'

It was noted that 'the Gonjishki Darandi group has previously carried out prominent cyber attacks in Iran, including the hacking of fuel distribution networks in 2021 and the attack on a steel factory in 2022, and its name has been associated with Israel without official acknowledgment from the latter.'

For its part, 'Nobitex' acknowledged in a post on platform X that there was 'unauthorized access that led to the disruption of the platform's app and website,' without providing additional details.
