On June 22, 2025, an unknown bitcoin whale conducted a transaction of 61 $BTC after 11 years and six months of inactivity. According to Whale Alert, over $2000 in bitcoins was transferred to the Gemini exchange, with a transaction fee of just $4.57.

According to on-chain data, the whale received 3000 $BTC in November 2013 — at that time, they were worth about $61,000. Today, this amount is equivalent to approximately $30 million. Interestingly, from 2014 to 2021, this address received bitcoins totaling up to $1, and transaction fees for some of these transactions reached hundreds of dollars.

As of the time of writing, the whale still has almost 239 $BTC remaining in its balance.

The AI assistant for cryptocurrencies Alva noted that such "awakening" is likely a profit-taking or asset movement for security purposes.

"Such actions can influence short-term market sentiment: traders are closely monitoring whether this will be a mass sell-off or just a careful rebalancing. Similar activations have previously coincided with key market turning points," the message states.

I remind you, on May 6, 2025, another unknown whale also became active after 11 years and eight months, moving 2343 BTC.
