$BTC Bitcoin was created by an anonymous programmer or group of programmers known as Satoshi Nakamoto. Nakamoto's innovation was the complex interplay of existing ideas, resulting in the first decentralized, Sybil resistant, Byzantine fault tolerant digital cash system, that would eventually be referred to as the first blockchain. Bitcoin aimed to be a medium of exchange without relying on financial institutions or governments.
