#USNationalDebt

What is the American national debt?

It is the total amount owed by the U.S. federal government to investors, countries, and institutions. It includes both domestic and foreign debt.

---

🔹 How much is it currently?

It exceeds 34 trillion dollars!

(Imagine every person in America owes more than 100 thousand dollars if the debt were distributed among the population!)

---

🔹 Why do they borrow in the first place?

To finance the deficit between revenues (taxes) and expenditures (defense, healthcare, subsidies, ...).

---

🔹 Who lends to America?

American citizens (Treasury bonds).

Countries like China and Japan.

Financial institutions and pension funds.

---

🔹 Is debt always bad?

❌ Not necessarily!

✅ Debt can fund economic growth, provided it is kept under control and used wisely.

---

🔹 What’s the problem?

As debt increases, so do interest payments.

They may raise taxes or print money = inflation.

It may affect America's credit rating and the world's confidence in it.
