Check out my position distribution, feel free to follow! Ethereum Classic (ETC), as a fork of Ethereum (ETH), has its future prospects influenced by multiple factors including technology, market, ecosystem, and regulation. The analysis based on the latest information is as follows:
1. Technological Development: Coexistence of Lag and Differentiation
Technological Lag: ETC retains the original Ethereum's PoW consensus mechanism. Although it emphasizes 'immutability', it lacks upgrades such as ETH 2.0's sharding and PoS, resulting in significantly inferior performance (e.g., transaction speed, scalability). Recently, it has attempted to introduce Layer 2 and burning mechanisms (like EIP-1559), but progress has been slow, and the activity level of ecosystem development is far lower than that of ETH.
Security Concerns: ETC has historically encountered 51% attacks multiple times. Although the community has improved through checkpoint mechanisms, the risk of centralization in computing power under the PoW mechanism still exists, affecting institutional confidence.
