The Desert Will Turn into Forest.
đł Saudi Arabia has already initiated an ambitious project to transform its deserts into green areas, with the goal of planting more than 10 billion trees in the coming decades.
This plan is part of the Saudi Green Initiative, launched in 2021, which aims to combat desertification, improve air quality, and restore environmental balance in the country.
Since the beginning of the project, more than 95 million trees and shrubs have been planted, and the target for 2030 is to reach 600 million trees planted and recover 8 million hectares of degraded land.
The project includes two main phases:
1- By 2030, focus on natural planting and recovery with native species adapted to arid climates.
2- After 2030, expansion of reforestation with advanced techniques to reach the goal of 10 billion trees.
In addition to improving the environment, the initiative also invests in modern irrigation and management technologies to ensure the survival of plants even in desert conditions.
đ This effort by Saudi Arabia is an example of how it is possible to invest in sustainability even in challenging regions.
