Elon Musk took another step in his ambitious transformation of X, the social network previously known as Twitter, by announcing the launch of X Money, an integrated digital wallet that will allow users to make payments, transfers, investments, and even send tips to creators within the platform.

During an interview at the Cannes Lions advertising festival, X's CEO, Linda Yaccarino, explained that the app is on track to become a true "financial hub," in line with Musk's vision of creating a super app for everything in the style of WeChat in China.

What will X Money offer?

Among the planned features of X Money are payments between users, bank transfers, in-app purchases, and investment services. The integration of cryptocurrencies and the ability to send tips to content creators is also being considered.

Additionally, X plans to launch a credit or debit card — in collaboration with Visa as the first confirmed partner — which could be available this year.
