ISRAEL, IRAN, AND THE U.S.

I tell you that Iran has said it is willing to sit down to negotiate with the United States about its nuclear program, but be careful! They put one condition: that Israel stops its bombings in the region. This statement, which comes just when things are heating up in the Middle East, makes one think there is a small opportunity for diplomacy, although I know it is a very thin thread.

My opinion is that this Iranian offer, which seeks to stop the confrontations, comes at a time when the attacks between Iran and Israel are nonstop. I believe Europe could play an important role as a mediator to resume dialogue on the nuclear issue. However, as long as Israel continues its military actions, I see it very difficult for there to be any progress in negotiations. Honestly, the future of stability in the region seems to me to hang by a very, very fine thread.
