During the first quarter of the year, Mexico recorded 35 billion 200 million cyberattack attempts, making the country the second most attractive target for virtual criminals in Latin America, cybersecurity firm Fortinet reported this Thursday.
According to the latest report on the Global Threat Landscape 2025, conducted by FortiGuard Labs, Fortinet's threat intelligence area, cybercriminals today use tools such as artificial intelligence (AI) to carry out increasingly focused reconnaissance efforts that are difficult to detect, which becomes one of the biggest challenges for Mexican companies.
But our country and the region are not enough for cybercriminals, as their attacks or attempts at breaches expand around the world. Globally, 1.9 trillion cyberattack attempts have been detected, a figure 16.7 percent higher than reported in 2024.
