HACKING A ETHEREUM STAKING POOL.
Hacking of Meta Pool, an Ethereum staking pool. Apparently, an attacker exploited a vulnerability in its "fast unstake" function, managing to mint $27 million in mpETH tokens. Fortunately, due to low liquidity and quick detection, the actual losses were limited to around $132,000 in Ether. The flaw was in the mint() function of its ERC4626 contract.
This type of incident reminds us of the risks of staking platforms, especially those that use smart contracts. The manipulation of those liquid staking tokens highlights how crucial security audits are. For me, this only reinforces the idea that vigilance and good security practices are essential to protect our assets in this decentralized world.
