On June 17, 2025, the U.S. Senate passed the GENIUS Stablecoin Act, marking a significant step towards federal regulation of stablecoins.
The GENIUS Act has been passed in the Senate, while a conflict with the STABLE Act is expected in the House of Representatives.
The bill — officially titled the Act on Guidance and Establishment of National Innovations for U.S. Stablecoins — establishes a framework for the issuance and regulation of stablecoins, digital assets pegged to fiat currencies such as the U.S. dollar. The bill now moves to the House of Representatives for consideration.
