Metaplanet, a Tokyo-listed investment firm, has rapidly transitioned from a hotel developer to a major Bitcoin holder. In March 2025, it acquired an additional 497 BTC for $43.3 million, bringing its total holdings to 2,888 BTC. The firm plans to increase its holdings to 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by 2026, aiming to become one of the largest corporate Bitcoin holders globally. Metaplanet has also raised funds through bond issuances to support its Bitcoin acquisition strategy.
