• Trading and ownership of crypto are permitted, but they operate in a legal grey zone—without formal asset classification or consumer protections .

• A Reddit user observed:

“None as crypto is not recognized as assets in Vietnam. however, if money is sent … it can be considered as one‑off income … and taxed as such”

🏛️ Regulation & Sandbox Initiatives

• The Ministry of Planning & Investment has proposed a fintech sandbox in major financial centres (Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang), to pilot licenced crypto trading, token issuance, NFTs, mining, and AML frameworks .

• The Ministry of Finance has cautioned that more study is needed before setting fixed start dates for activity such as trading in centres, pushing back proposed operations from mid‑2026 .
