Russian authorities discovered a truck for cryptocurrency mining that was stealing electricity from a village

The authorities of the Republic of Buryatia found an illegal mining farm hidden inside a KamAZ truck that was stealing electricity from a local village.

During a scheduled inspection of the power line in the Pribaikal district, an unauthorized connection to a 10-kilovolt power line, capable of supplying energy to a small village, was discovered.

Inside the truck, inspectors found 95 mining rigs and a mobile transformer substation. Two suspects fled before the police arrived in an SUV.

According to a representative of 'Rosseti Siberia', this is already the sixth case of energy theft for mining in Buryatia since the beginning of the year. Authorities warned that such connections disrupt the stability of local networks, causing voltage spikes, overloads, and possible outages.
