– Regulating the Future 🇻🇳

Vietnam’s National Assembly passed the landmark Law on Digital Technology Industry on June 14, 2025, making the country one of the first to formally legalize and define crypto, effective January 1, 2026 . It distinguishes between “virtual assets” and “crypto assets” (e.g. Bitcoin, Ethereum) while excluding fiat tokens and securities . The law also mandates AML, cybersecurity measures, and licensing, addressing FATF “gray list” concerns . Beyond crypto, it offers tax breaks and R&D support to position Vietnam as a digital-tech hub. The stage is now set for a regulated Web3 ecosystem and stronger fintech innovation.

Will this spark mainstream adoption or cautious rollout?
