Future of business in the Web3 era

With the participation of representatives from diverse sectors such as banking, insurance, technology, consulting, education, public agencies, and private companies, the Banking Association of Venezuela held the seminar "New Business Models: Web3, Blockchain, and Digital Assets" from June 9 to 12, 2025, at its headquarters in Caracas.

During these four days of technical training and strategic reflection, a panel of national and international experts addressed the fundamentals, applications, and challenges posed by the Web3 ecosystem, from blockchain architecture and smart contracts to their impact on corporate processes, traceability, digital identity, and regulatory compliance.

The academic coordination was led by Lya Glaentzlin D’Ascoli, a specialist in international financing, blockchain, digital transformation, regulatory frameworks for innovation, and Agile Project Management. Under her direction, a comprehensive agenda was articulated that allowed participants to understand both the technical fundamentals and the operational and legal implications of the Web3 ecosystem. Throughout the sessions, topics such as: types of blockchain, consensus mechanisms, automation through smart contracts, wallets and key tools for Web3, audits in decentralized environments, asset tokenization, blockchain oracles, decentralized digital identity (DID), intellectual property, ESG (environmental, social, and governance) solutions, prevention of financial crimes, and emerging global regulations such as the OECD's CARF were discussed.

The panel of experts included Robinson Rivas Suárez (UCV), Aníbal Garrido (BTCTechno-UCAB), Jessika Paola Becerra (Ethereum Community), Mora Garat (KPMG Argentina), Dany Colmenares, Roberto Genatios (Funintec), Wilmer Varón (Funintec), Simón León (Chainlink), Aaron Olmos (IESA), and Noelia Navarro (EY Dominican Republic)

Those who shared perspectives from different disciplines such as engineering, economics, law, cybersecurity, digital forensics, and business management.

«This Seminar responds to an urgent need that must be satisfied, not thinking about the future but about the present. Emerging technologies such as blockchain, smart contracts, and decentralized digital identity are already shaping the way we operate. Understanding, applying, and regulating them appropriately is essential to keep us at the forefront of the country's development,» highlighted Pedro Pacheco Rodríguez, Executive President of the association, during his inaugural speech.

More than just a training, the seminar served as a platform for the convergence of ideas and the definition of strategies in response to the Web3 revolution. The Association concludes this successful meeting with the conviction that collaboration among regulators, academia, and business leaders is the only way to transform the challenges of blockchain technology into concrete opportunities for competitive and secure development in the country.
