The head of the tax committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Danilo Hetmantsev, is convinced that cryptocurrencies are an integral part of the financial future. In his speeches, he emphasizes that blockchain technologies and digital assets are already changing the global economy, and the number of their owners is rapidly increasing. According to Crypto.com, by April 2025, the number of cryptocurrency owners in the world reached 700 million, indicating an average annual growth rate of 163% over the past five years.
Hetmantsev predicts that cryptocurrencies will be legalized in Ukraine in the fourth quarter of 2025. A bill developed jointly with the National Bank and the IMF will regulate the circulation and taxation of digital assets. He emphasizes that there will be no exemptions: profits from cryptocurrencies will be taxed under the model of securities — 18% personal income tax plus military levy.
The MP notes that the growing popularity of cryptocurrencies is due to their convenience for transactions, protection against inflation, and the innovative possibilities of blockchain. Particularly active spread is observed in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, but Ukraine also has the potential to become the crypto hub of Eastern Europe.
Although Hetmantsev does not invest in cryptocurrencies, he supports transparent regulation that will contribute to market development. In his opinion, the future lies in digital currencies, and their audience will only grow.
