BlackRock, an asset manager valued at $11 trillion, claims it plans to become the largest crypto asset manager in the world by 2030. The firm already manages one of the most successful spot Bitcoin ETFs. Following the success of IBIT, BlackRock seeks to broaden its focus on cryptocurrencies to become the largest crypto asset manager.
BlackRock held its investor day event on Thursday, where it presented its corporate strategy for the next five years. The company aims to double its operating income and market capitalization by 2030. A key aspect of this plan is the acquisition and offering of cryptocurrency products. The company also plans to expand its digital asset ETPs to Europe and Canada, leveraging the expertise gained in the U.S.
BlackRock's Bitcoin (BTC) IBIT ETF has already positioned itself among the 20 most traded ETFs this year, and if this trend continues, it could enter the top 10 in the coming months. According to Farside Investors, BlackRock purchased $930.6 million in Bitcoin (BTC) in June. The world's largest asset manager liquidated $260.9 million in BTC in the same period.

BlackRock's institutional strategy for cryptocurrency adoption has maximized numerous significant opportunities, extending far beyond this investment. The asset manager has already implemented the Circle Reserve Fund, a government money market fund registered with the SEC that leveraged approximately 90% of the reserves backing USDC in several major operational sectors. This fund has pioneered growth to exceed $53 billion in net assets, accelerating several key market dynamics.
In April, BlackRock also registered as a crypto asset company in the UK. Its expansion in the cryptocurrency market in 2025 has been a success and shows no signs of stopping. If BlackRock continues this trend, it could soon become the largest crypto asset manager and perhaps surpass Strategy as the leading institutional investor in Bitcoin.
