Shopify announced that it will fully launch USDC stablecoin payment functionality on its platform later this year, with an initial pilot opening to some merchants in the United States and Europe at the end of June, and then gradually expanding to all merchants on the platform. This feature is enabled by default, and merchants must manually choose to turn it off. Shopify has developed a payment protocol running on the Base blockchain in collaboration with Coinbase, which supports refunds and chargeback processing, and is integrated with the existing system of payment service provider Stripe.
