#MarketRebound Love Despite the Distance

When Irina and Woodford McClellan got married, they had no idea it would be another eleven years before they would be together again. In 1972, Irina was working at an institute in Moscow where she met Professor McClellan. They fell in love and got married two years later in May. However, in August, Woodford's visa expired, and he had to leave the country and return home.

Woodford tried several times to visit his wife, but he was denied entry into the country. For unknown reasons, Irina was also forbidden to leave the country. They celebrated their anniversaries with postcards, photographs, and phone calls. It wasn't until eleven years later that Irina finally received permission to move to the United States. Her husband, whom she hadn't seen in more than a decade, welcomed her at the airport in Baltimore in 1986 with open arms. The story was captured by reporters, and Irina also immortalized it in her book Eleven Years of Fighting for My Husband and Freedom.
