On June 3, 2025, the DFINITY Foundation held the second World Computer Summit (WCS) in Zurich, bringing together market-leading international technology experts, developers, policymakers, community members, builders, and pioneers for a one-day event dedicated to the future of the open internet.
This event focused on multiple themes that are crucial for realizing the vision of the World Computer, including decentralized computing, sovereign cloud and data infrastructure, tamper-proof and autonomous infrastructure, the role and demand for on-chain artificial intelligence, investment and regulatory landscapes, and the many efforts by DFINITY to make the digital environment safer, more efficient, and more interconnected than ever before.
Guests from numerous companies and institutions, including Animoca Brands, the United Nations Development Programme, Cisco, Heidrick & Struggles, ETH Zurich, 21Shares, Boston Consulting Group, and Italian Agricultural Credit Bank, shared the same message: the application of decentralization and artificial intelligence is no longer an abstract concept or a beautiful idea but an urgent and achievable reality.
On the main stage, over 1,000 attendees participated in keynote speeches, panel discussions, fireside chats, and demonstrations. The day's most notable moment came just before the event concluded, when DFINITY Foundation's founder and chief scientist Dominic Williams unveiled a new paradigm for self-writing internet.
Dom gave a live demonstration of DFINITY's highly anticipated Caffeine AI tool for the first time on stage, and all attendees clearly recognized the potential of this secure, customizable, end-to-end application builder to radically change the lives of any internet user - all thanks to its easy-to-use natural language prompts and highly intuitive user interface.
He also announced that the highly anticipated Alpha test waitlist is now open for registration via the dedicated microsite join.caffeine.ai. Caffeine represents a milestone development for the DFINITY Foundation as the world's first self-writing application platform.
Community engagement and developer activation
One of the most striking highlights of WCS25 was the strength and enthusiasm of the ICP builder and holder community. The event featured a complete segment aimed at showcasing the exceptional capabilities of ICP to builders at various stages of development and engaging with them, from early developers to mature dapp teams and infrastructure providers, highlighting the diversity and thriving nature of the ICP ecosystem.
This section's presentations and panel discussions featured renowned ICP projects such as KongSwap, Liquidium, PiggyCell, and Omnity Network.
The ecosystem stage hosted a series of exciting demonstrations, project showcases, use cases, and building tools throughout the day, covering multiple fields including DeFi, Agentic AI, and RWA. The DFINITY expert team also released significant project milestone updates and demonstrated functionalities of technologies like OISY wallet and Chain Fusion.
The new era of Internet Computer 2.0
As the summit neared its conclusion, it was clear that the movement dedicated to building an open, decentralized internet, focusing on accessibility, data sovereignty, and ownership, is thriving - driven by the ambitions of developers and the capabilities of artificial intelligence.

Dominic Williams stated during the demonstration: 'We are honored to announce the arrival of Internet Computer 2.0, which now offers a unique cloud computing environment that allows artificial intelligence to build independently. Today, we showcased the platform's incredible alpha version, with the beta version set to launch publicly in about a month. Our goal is that in the future, everyone in the world can create online functionality through conversation.'
