A small part of the brain known as the Ventral Tegmental Area (VTA).
It actually provides us with predictions about rewards and dopamine. This means when you start something, the neurons present in the brain calculate whether you will receive dopamine or a reward afterwards.
So in a new study, it has been found that in this VTA not only is the reward calculated, but different neurons predict based on different times. Like short-term rewards which might come after a few seconds or a few minutes. Or after hours, days, or months.
So this can benefit us. Just like we always want immediate results, but the wait for success is long, so we give up due to the absence of dopamine and feel bored or sad, losing motivation.
What if we receive that reward after a month or a year daily, and because of this, we never lose motivation and become successful? So we will manipulate the brain.
