Altcoin Season Update
This is the Bitcoin Dominance chart from 2017 to 2025, covering the last 8 years.
From February 2017 to January 2018, BTC dominance dropped from 95% to 35%.
That was the biggest Altcoin Season in history, which many of us witnessed. If you've been in the market since 2017, do comment and let us know.
In January 2018, BTC dominance hit its bottom, and after that, it started rising—from 35% to 73% between Jan 2018 and Dec 2020. That marked the top of BTC dominance and during this period, Altcoins saw major corrections.
Then from January 2021 to May 2021, BTC dominance dropped again from 73% to 39%, leading to another Altcoin Season.
From 2021 to June 2025, BTC dominance has mostly been on the rise, and we are now waiting for a correction—similar to previous patterns.
According to this chart:
The 67–70% zone is a strong resistance area.
The 40–43% zone is a support area.
When the price moves from the resistance zone down to the support zone, we can expect another Altcoin Season.
It will come, but for now, everyone needs to stay patient a bit longer.
