Trump: The US and China will hold talks in London on June 9 to resolve trade disputes

US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bencik, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik, and Trade Representative Jamison Greer will meet with a Chinese delegation in London on June 9 to resolve trade differences between the two countries.
Trump stated on his social media platform Truth Social: "I am pleased to announce that Treasury Secretary Scott Bencik, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik, and Trade Representative Ambassador Jamison Greer will meet with Chinese representatives in London on June 9, 2025 (Monday) to negotiate a trade agreement. This meeting is expected to yield positive results."
As the new round of US-China negotiations takes place, both sides are working to ease tense trade relations. However, as the US raises tariffs on Chinese goods, along with Trump's claim of needing to 'restart' trade policies with China, the economic and trade situation between the two countries has escalated sharply, triggering a new round of tensions.
