U.S. President Donald Trump criticized billionaire Elon Musk on Thursday, saying he feels "disappointed" due to Musk's public opposition to the comprehensive tax cut and spending bill that lies at the heart of Trump's agenda, while Musk said, "Without me, the U.S. president would have lost the elections."
Trump stated in a remark at the White House, "Elon and I have a great relationship... I don't know if we will remain that way anymore."
He added, "He has said the nicest things about me and has not said anything bad about me personally, except I’m sure that will come later. But I feel a great disappointment in Elon... I have helped him a lot."
Trump also confirmed that Musk launched a scathing attack on the bill due to the proposed elimination of tax breaks for electric vehicle owners.
Musk, the CEO of Tesla, the electric car manufacturer, said he opposes the bill because it would increase the federal deficit.
Trump pointed out that Musk, who received a warm farewell from the U.S. president last week after overseeing his campaign to reduce federal costs, is upset because he misses working with the U.S. president.
