BREAKING: James Wynn Liquidated 3 Times in a Row, Loses 379 BTC ($27M) 😱
James Wynn, a well-known high-leverage crypto trader, was liquidated three consecutive times on June 5, 2025, losing a total of 379 BTC—worth approximately $27 million—on the trading platform Hyperliquid.
The losses followed a massive short position of 7,967.83 BTC with a liquidation price of $111,280, and came just weeks after he reportedly lost $60 million in May from a 40x long bet gone wrong.
According to a screenshot from the time, Bitcoin’s price plunged from $105,000 to $103,000 around 13:00 UTC, triggering Wynn’s liquidations as the market moved sharply against him. The incident underscores the extreme volatility and risk involved in high-leverage crypto trading.
Historical data from CoinGlass shows these types of liquidations are not uncommon during steep price swings. For instance, in May 2021, Bitcoin dropped 30% to $31,000, leading to widespread liquidations across the market—proving again that over-leveraged positions can be brutally unforgiving.
