The relationship between U.S. President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk is revealing increasing cracks as they criticize each other.

In a post on social media X on June 5, billionaire Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and Space X, criticized U.S. President Donald Trump as "ungrateful."

He wrote: "Without me, Trump would have lost the election, the Democrats would control the House and the Republicans would have a 51-49 ratio in the Senate."

On the same day, billionaire Musk made a shocking statement supporting the possibility of impeaching President Trump and replacing him with Vice President JD Vance.

When Malaysian writer Ian Miles Cheong commented on social media: "President (Trump) and Elon Musk. Who will win. I bet it's Elon Musk. Trump should be impeached and replaced by JD Vance," just about 20 minutes later, billionaire Musk responded to this comment: "That's right."

The founder of Tesla and Space X recently ended his leadership role at the Government Performance Board (DOGE) and has continuously criticized the policies of U.S. President Donald Trump.

One of the policies he opposes is the tax cut bill called the "Great and Beautiful Bill" by President Trump. Billionaire Musk believes it will plunge America into a debt spiral.

"In the entire history of civilization, there has never been a law that is both big and beautiful. Everyone knows this. Either you will get a big and bad bill or a thin and beautiful one," Mr. Musk stated.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the bill in May, and the President is expected to sign it in early July if approved by the Senate. The bill aims to make the 2017 tax cuts permanent and introduce further tax reductions while boosting spending in areas such as defense and border security.

In response to Musk's criticisms, Trump stated he is "very disappointed" with the person who was once considered his strong ally.

"I have always loved Elon. I want him to criticize me more than the bill. Because that bill is truly extraordinary. Elon Musk and I have had a great relationship. I don't know if we still do. He knows every aspect of this bill, better than most people. He never had any issues until just after he left. I am very disappointed in Elon. I have helped him a lot," the White House owner wrote.

President Trump also added: "I don't mind Elon turning his back on me, but he should have done it months ago."

He argued that his bill is the "greatest bill ever presented to Congress."

"This is a record cost-cutting measure, $1.6 trillion and the largest tax cut ever proposed. If this bill is not passed, taxes will rise to 68% and things will get even worse. I didn't create this mess, I'm just here to fix it and make America great again," he wrote.

Mr. Trump and Mr. Musk once had a close relationship. Billionaire Musk is reported to have spent heavily to support Trump's re-election campaign and was later entrusted with the responsibility of managing DOGE with the aim of reducing government spending.
