A few days after leaving his position in the U.S. government, billionaire Elon Musk has been criticizing some decisions made by the administration. In posts on X (formerly Twitter), Musk called the new budget bill a 'repugnant abomination' on Tuesday (03), causing an uproar on the social network.
The owner of X and SpaceX himself said that he 'couldn't take it anymore' and made the outburst. 'This massive, outrageous, and money-filled Congress spending bill is a repugnant abomination,' he said, expressing shame for those in favor of the project, stating that these people know they are wrong.
In another post, a few minutes later, the businessman states that the decision on the proposal will have extremely damaging consequences for the U.S. economy. '[The project] will greatly increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion and burden American citizens with an overwhelmingly unsustainable debt,' Musk wrote.
What is the budget bill that Musk criticized?
Understood by Donald Trump as a 'big, beautiful law', the gigantic government project was recently approved by the U.S. House. The package includes tax cuts and is a major victory for the Republican faction.
The budget bill is one of the major cornerstones of Trump's campaign during his current term;
This proposal is expected to grant new tax exemptions, car loans, and increase spending for the armed forces;
The funds will also be added to continue the crackdown on immigration, one of the mainstays of the U.S. president's administration;
An independent congressional committee believes that the fiscal measures would increase the budget deficit by more than R$ 27 trillion over a period of ten years;
The proposal will be forwarded to the Senator, who, if accepted, will pass it to presidential sanction.
