🚀 Whales are back: Over 1,455 wallets holding more than 1,000 BTC – strong accumulation signal
Data from Cointelegraph shows that by May 2025, the number of Bitcoin wallets holding more than 1,000 BTC has increased to 1,455, marking the return of whales in the trend of accumulating digital assets.
Wallets holding more than 1,000 BTC currently hold 8.4 million BTC, equivalent to 40% of the total supply, reflecting active involvement from institutions, exchanges, and veteran investors.
The top 100 addresses alone control about 5.9 million BTC (28%), mostly belonging to early whales and large institutions.
Notably, more than 2.9 million BTC (14%) are concentrated in wallets holding over 10,000 BTC, indicating that market control remains in the hands of a small but influential group.
The increase in whale wallets suggests that long-term confidence in Bitcoin is strongly recovering, especially in the context of institutional capital flowing back into the market and legal frameworks becoming clearer globally.
