A massive 300 BTC (≈ $31M) donation was sent to Ross Ulbricht’s official wallet this week — but it’s not all good news.

🕵️‍♂️ Blockchain investigator ZachXBT says the donation did not come from Ulbricht himself, as some speculated. Instead, the BTC flowed through Jambler, a centralized Bitcoin mixer, from two dormant wallets dating back to 2014 and 2019.

🔎 One address involved — 1CNDW — has already been flagged by compliance tools, raising serious concerns about the origin of the funds.

📉 Unlike privacy-focused tools like Wasabi or Samourai, Jambler’s involvement has cast doubt on the legitimacy of the transaction. ZachXBT labeled the source as “questionable,” adding more mystery to an already bizarre transfer

🧠 Context: Who is Ross Ulbricht?

Founder of Silk Road, arrested in 2013

Served 12 years of a double life sentence

Pardoned by Donald Trump in Jan 2025

Recently spoke at Bitcoin 2025 and raised $1.3M via auction

🪙 The 300 BTC transfer was not connected to his auction. It landed in a donation wallet managed by FreeRoss.org, which funds legal advocacy and prison reform.

🤔 Why It Matters

This donation, while massive, could raise regulatory red flags due to its trace through flagged addresses and a centralized mixer. It also comes at a sensitive time, as Ulbricht re-emerges in the public eye and advocates for sentencing reform.
