During his Bitcoin 2025 speech, @JDVance said bitcoin and crypto people tend to be on the right. I haven't found this to be true.
Bitcoin people tend to be on the right and crypto people tend to be on the left. And there are many signs of this. For example, Bitcoin development is very conservative (e.g. preference for soft forks, consensus changes very difficult, rejects the tokenization casino) while crypto development is willing to take more risks (e.g. hard forks, open to reliance on centralized stablecoins, openness to experimenting with many tokens).
That said, it's possible to bring everyone together by opening more experimentation up on upper-layer protocols (e.g. Lightning Network, sidechains, Ark, Spark), while also maintaining the conservative approach at the base Bitcoin blockchain layer.
Wouldn't that be something?
