⚖️ U.S. Court Permanently Invalidates Trump's Global Tariffs
On May 29, the U.S. Court of International Trade ruled that President Donald Trump did not have the authority to unilaterally impose global tariffs, declaring these tax levels illegal and permanently invalid.
The ruling came after a group of small businesses sued the Trump administration, arguing that he had overstepped his authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). The court affirmed that the "emergency" status cited by Trump was invalid and 'imaginary'.
This is the first time a federal court has reviewed and dismissed the legal basis of the tariff strategy that Trump used in the global trade war.
